Her father, Hraesvelgr the Kinslayer, ruled for fifty brutal years. So dominant was his reign that whispers spread, calling him part god, part eagle, part ghost. But even legends fall, and not even Hraesvelgr could stop the prophecy: that twins born under eternal night would one day drink his blood.
